Safe, inclusive and sustainable communities – that’s where people want to live and why we make our neighbourhoods pleasant places for everyone.

Working with our local authority partners and the police, we work to prevent problems with anti-social behaviour and crime by offering positive outlets and sharing information.

With nearly 167,000 homes across West Yorkshire, we’re in a unique position to have a significant impact in addressing these issues. We’re able to map local properties and issues arising in our neighbourhoods, using statistics to identify priority areas and help in crime prevention.

How we’re supporting people

This priority area also extends to supporting people’s skills, employability, life chances and wellbeing to make sure that no community is left behind. In 2022/23 we helped nearly 14,000 customers with skills, inclusion and employability.

We know social housing residents often experience barriers to employment due to health and skills gaps in a changing employment market. To tackle this, we have strong tenant and community relationships which provide a route for our partners to support inclusive growth by reaching target groups.

There’s great potential for us to work more closely with our partners to create safe and sustainable communities with a particular focus on preventing anti-social behaviour and crime, and to further support people’s skills, employability, life chances and wellbeing.
